Bloody year and hopes of a better tomorrow

First day of the new year is overlooking on the province of Raqqa, it is saying goodbye for the year which carried one of the largest disasters which the city suffered from, in its revolutionary path, with plates that the dust of time will not be able to hide it, and history will not forgive for those who wanted to obliterate its landmarks.

Raqqa is still alive despite wounds, pain and bloody fetter, the wound for the city is the same wound for those people whose still collecting their remains, the wound for the land which slaughtered silently.

On the day which the world celebrates by the new year, people of Raqqa saying goodbye for the most bloody year, with a horrible massacre committed by Assad’s forces, regime aircraft waged a raid near the building of Social Insurance, where the warplanes of Assad regime poured lava of rancor on a building inhabited by civilians only, the raid resulted seven martyrs and more than 40 wounded in the hospitals of the city.

Body parts scattered and mixed with each other, and some of them are turning to ashes, the city was subjected to a crazy hooligan bombing, in a while the people thought that this day will pass peacefully, but they did not realize that the Assad regime has not exhausted the means of killing and shedding blood in the last day of the year, and concluded this bloody year with another bloody day.

Raqqa, which was rife with lights and celebrations, is wearing black today in mourning for the lives of her children, who became displaced and detainees and martyrs, the executioner has changed but Raqqa is still the victim, crime tool varied a lot, but the blood remain the same blood of the same people, whose all they wanted to live freely away from the grip of security forces, ISIS terrifies people on the ground and the aircraft of Assad regime in the sky, each of them trying to spill the blood of the largest number of civilians.

All streets in Raqqa was rife with the manifestations of celebration in this day before, the celebration was not confined to Christians, happiness was for all as sadness today is for everyone, it is no longer important for Christian man today in Raqqa to decorate a tree or knock a bell, but he only thinks how could he find a tomb to include the remains of the body of his Muslim brother.

The street which was targeted today, it is the same street which was full of red hats, colorful lights, decorations and loud sounds, but it is full of the blood of the martyrs and the voices of wounded today, they survived of Assad’s missiles today, but can they escape the knife of ISIS?

A year passed in Raqqa carrying a lot of pain and bleeding wounds, a year passed in the province in a while it slaughtered silently in front of the eyes of whole world, but today everyone hold hope on a better year, that maybe not the best, perhaps be less bloody than its predecessor.
