Turkey and Military Intervention Race

Turkey lunched its first military campaign in northern Syria by bombing ISIS sites along the Turkish borders with Syria. Along with supporting and arming the Free Syrian Army factions who started their attacksfrom the Turkish lands towards Jarablos which has the last border crossing under ISIS control.

According to the Turkish TV, the Turkish army bombed four sites belong to ISIS with 60 shells today morning, this comes after several shells fall over Carcamiesh village southeast Turkey.
Earlier this year, the Turkish Foreign Affairs, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, indicated that Ankara offered Washington to do a (Joint operations) against ISIS in Syria provided they do not engage the Kurdish forces which Turkey consider as terrorist groups while US take them as allies. However, these calls have not received any attention by the American administration.

After the American support to the Kurdish forces, these make the biggest threat to the Turkish administration, the Turkish administration tried repeatedly to improve the relations with the US administrations when the Turkish Foreign minister said:” If we gather our forces, US has their own special forces and we have our own special forces, we can easily control the city of Raqqa“.

We do not know what (easy) he is talking about, because controlling over Raqqa, if it is possible on the ground, is not easy at all and seems quite difficult at the moments for several reasons.
The declaration of the Turkish Foreign minister, which some consider as an attempt to pull the rug from under the Kurds, has not received any positive response from Washington. This has raised several points especially how serious Washington is in coordination with the Turks in their war against ISIS which entered its second year.

Surely, Syrian Democratic forces which is dominated by People’s Protection Units, is the great threat to the Turkish administration who considers them as the Syrian branch of PKK. That is why the US administration is in a critical position, either to support Kurds and help them to create their nationalist Kurdish state or fight them in order to improve their relations with the Turkish administration but this is unlikely to happen because the US administration will not lose the Kurds.

Another important thing, it is not the right time for the Turkish, American and International ground forces to get to the field, as long as there are trained Free Syrian Army troops why would these armies sacrifice in the Syrian affairs? Especially that is exactly what ISIS wants.
The “Syrian War” is not clear yet and we do not know what will come in the next days. But we are quite sure that the war will not end soon and the losses will be greater as long as the American and Western intelligence keep working in the dark.
