Press Statement from Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently

“Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently” organization worked since its establishment to uncover violations committed against civilians in Raqqa province, and expose the practices of ISIS terrorist organization, in light of deafening silence toward the crime committed and still being committed in Raqqa. We are now working in partnership with several local parties to reveal the ongoing violations by the dominant parties on the ground in Tell Abiad city and its countryside. Accordingly:

1. We consider YPG forces as a synonymous occupier to Assad’s regime and ISIS, where they work to displace residents of villages, confiscate homes, theft of property and arbitrary arrests, and punish the villages en masse in an effort to change the demographic structure in the region, and justify all of these practices on the pretext of being individual errors.

2. We condemn all violations carried out by YPG forces against civilians in the city of Tell Abiad and surroundings, as we have condemned ISIS practices to displace our Kurdish brothers from the city of Raqqa.

3. We reject any ideology or party is trying to divide the country and establish statelets or cantons, similar to the statelet announced by ISIS. So we consider that Syria is a unified homeland of all Syrians who possess their uncompromised rights.

4. We demand to set up an international independent commission to investigate such violations, in order to detect and bring the perpetrators to the competent international courts. As we call upon international community to take immediate action to stop the ongoing forced displacement processes, which would contribute to strengthen ISIS and show it as an available option and a protector of the population in those areas.

Raping women and slaughtering innocent civilians is just cowardice and it has nothing to do with Islam.
